Transparent, Translucent and Opaque

Transparent, an adjective, means transmitting light, so that objects on the other side can be seen clearly.

Clear glass is transparent.

Translucent, an adjective, means letting light through, but objects on the other side cannot be seen.

Frosted glass is translucent.

Opaque, an adjective, means not letting light through.

A brick wall is opaque.
